7 Fun Remote Christmas Party Ideas
If you’re anything like us, you haven’t stopped playing Christmas tunes since Christmas finished last year. This is why you’ll just have to trust us when we say we are seasoned pros when it comes to throwing killer Xmas parties (yes, even when they’re remote).
This year is a little different to most, especially for us Melbournians. It's hard to see what December's going to be like, and what exactly to plan for when it comes to the festive season.
For many in the corporate world, this might leave you scratching your head. How would you organise a work Christmas function when there are limits on how many people are allowed in a gathering, or how big a booking can be at a restaurant?
And we'd even go as far as to say that it's more important this year to retain that connection you have with your coworkers through an end of year event, when so many have been working apart for most of the year.
So we've compiled a list of things we believe would make for a great end of year event, even when you can't get together.
1. Virtual games
Thanks to the internet, there are so many games available that can be played with multiple players in various locations.
Fun games such as Jackbox.tv can easily be streamed to all players, but all controllers are easily located on a website url, and all a player needs is the 4-letter code, a mobile phone with internet connection to play.
And there are so many free games out there too like Pictionary, where one user randomly generates the word and needs to draw the word for others to guess.
You can even play charades. Using a free charade idea generator, the person acting it out is then put on a spotlight feature, and their coworkers and friends need to guess what they are.
2. Remote Secret Santa
Gift giving has never been so easy, especially in this day and age where we can shop on the internet. Simply plug all your staff names into a KK-generator and set a budget, and you’re sorted. Organise a video call with the whole team and have them guess and open up their presents. The best part of Remote Secret Santa? You don’t have to awkwardly walk into a room with your gift under your shirt so you don’t spoil the surprise when it comes to guessing!
This year tukr is offering a Christmas hamper option where WE purchase the KK gift and send it off in our Christmas boxes for you!
3. Gift boxes & hampers
Well, we wouldn’t be a very good snack box company if we didn’t suggest snack boxes and hampers as gifts.
We’ve already had sooo many businesses and people in general buying gift boxes to surprise their staff and loved ones, and we have a new and evolved Christmas hamper that includes access to games (and some cheeky bevs!) to really get the party going. Click here to find out more!
4. Dress up
We haven’t had much of a chance to dress up this year, so let’s say that we’ll be going a little nuts for our online Christmas party this time 'round. Want to make it a little more fun? Set unique themes! Think Superhero Santa, Disco Santa, Runaway Elf, the list goes on.
Want to up the ante? Best dressed gets a prize!
5. Cooking or Baking Session!
Have a team that loves to cook or bake? Send out the recipes so the team can shop before hand (you can send them gift cards so they don't have to pay out of pocket!) - and give them some time to shop.
Start a video call, cook and have a meal together!
It could even be as simple as sending out come cookie decorating kits, because why not?!
This might be a little harder with a huge team, but it's a nice bonding session if this is something your team loves to do.
6. Holiday Happy Hour
It wouldn’t be a Christmas party without a couple of cheeky bevs. For those who can’t make eggnog, a bottle of wine should suffice!
Our latest and greatest hamper is in the works and has pre-made cocktails, beers and wines included! Find out more here!
7. Seasonal buzzwords
Set a list of buzzwords that trigger an action.
Naughty or nice? You decide.
For example, if somebody says the word 'drink', then it triggers them to take a drink!
Want to keep it more nice? They could do 10 star jumps or have to turn around 3 times and shout 'I LOVE CHRISTMAS'.
